The (technological) singularity is the idea, or hypothesis that the invention of artificial super intelligence will trigger a kind of runaway technological growth that we will not be able to keep up with or control, and very quickly outgrow us, resulting in an incomprehensible impact on humanity. The acceleration of technology in general is getting faster and faster, the more we know and invent, the easier and quicker it becomes to know and invent even more. Like a snowball effect. But with this kind of growth, our dependence on technology grows with it. Our mobile phones have become essential in day to day life, to the point where they are not just a product we own, but an extension of ourselves. We have limitless information and support at our finger tips, that we now almost entirely rely on. It could be seen as the beginning of humans merging with machines. However, a lot of people see this as not only a good thing, but the only way humanity will survive the singularity. To merge and become one with technology.
I’m hoping we can convey the idea that we are merging and being consumed by technology in our film in an effective way.
