Here is the floor plan we created to help plan our layout in AG07 for the screening day. The way we have drawn it here is with the rig against the wall but I think it would actually work really well if we made it so that the audience could go behind it and be projected on, especially because the film is about humanity in many ways. By incorporating the audience into the piece in a deliberate way could definitely be a really interesting idea. For example, by having them projected on as they walk past, they will become a part of the piece itself and this will allow the other audience members to consider our deliberate decision for people to be projected upon if they wish.
We have some problem solving to do as well such as controlling the spill of the projectors when we mirror them, i.e. we may have to use some pieces of cardboard on either side of the lens to prevent the projectors from spilling into each other, or information being lost. Another aspect we need to think about is the focusing distance and how far we need the projectors away from the mirrors to get images in focus. We have done various tests with the mirrors but didn’t take any measurements, unfortunately. Luckily we can simply book out a projector and do the experiments I have mentioned here, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue it just means we will be much more confident in how to lay everything out on the submission day which of course is a good thing.
